Cable Protection Products
Blue Ocean Projects now offers a new cable protector product range specifically developed for physical protection and routing of subsea cables onto offshore subsea structures.
The product range is particularly aimed at installations in relatively shallow waters, such as offshore wind turbine foundations, or wave or tidal energy devices,
where cables may be vulnerable to strong wave and current conditions, scour, impact and hooking forces.
In such conditions, the need is to ensure that the cable remains protected and stable whilst respecting the cable minimum bend radius.
The cable protector consists of a series of interlocking half shell modules to form a vertebrae bend restrictor around the cable. Normally manufactured from Ductile Iron, the cable protector is available in two versions, Uniplane and Multiplane.
Both Uniplane and Multiplane designs have three important features in common:
- Strong in bending. The Cable Protector locks out on two opposed surfaces to provide strength in bending, making it significantly stronger than conventional articulated pipe. This also ensures a more reliable and repeatable lock out radius.
- Smooth bore. The internal bore of the Cable Protectors is as smooth as possible to facilitate longitudinal cable movement where required, for instance for cable pull-in or cable tension relief.
- All bolted assembly, with identical top and bottom castings for ease and simplicity of assembly whether onshore, on deck or subsea by divers
The products presented may be used in many different ways, for instance deployed on the cable, fitted to the end of I or J tube or retrofitted. Please contact us to discuss your specific application.
